#TheVoiceSA teams get ready to battle it out

The Voice SA season 3 coaches Riky Rick, Riana Nel, Lira and Francois van Coke begged them to be in their teams at The Blind Auditions.
Then they had to prove their versatility in The KnockOuts, where the coaches had to cut down their teams dramatically. Now, the coaches’ remaining talent has to Battle it out for a position in The Voice SA’s dazzling Live shows.
During the next three weeks, starting Sunday 28 April the coaches will pair the singers in their teams to show off their skills with the same song. It’s not a duet, however. It’s a vocal showdown. At the end of each Battle, the coach who mentored the talent will be forced to pick a winner and say goodbye to their opponent. There are no Saves and no Steals. You’re either in, or out.
To prepare their talent for the big Battle day, the four coaches have called upon some of their best friends in the music industry to assist in training their teams.
MEET THE MENTORS
Coach Riky Rick will be supported by singer-songwriter, musician, composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, choirmaster and TV presenter Khaya Mthetwa, whose road to fame started with an M-Net reality show competition. He, of course, won Idols Season 8, whereafter he raked in the Best Newcomer Award at the Metro FM Awards. He also received the SAMA for Best Contemporary Faith Music Album in 2017.
Afrikaans singing sensation and charming former construction worker Jo Black, known for his runaway hit Skepe, which received more than a million hits on YouTube within its first five months, will be teaching Riana’s team the tricks of the trade.
At the same time, Lira is upping her game with the help of Ross Learmoth, legendary frontman of Prime Circle. Ross’ rock band has released seven studio albums to date, which have all received either gold or platinum status, as well as numerous SAMA awards.
Francois van Coke’s co-coach, Majozi, has also travelled the world, and often at Francois’s side. The Voice SA’s rock rebel and the hugely popular indie folk-musician and songwriter from Durban have shared stages from Cape Town To Amsterdam.
