President Cyril Ramaphosa has once again failed us – Zwelinzima Vavi
South African Federation of Trade Unions General-Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi says there’s nothing new in President Ramaphosa’s speech.
More than R1-trillion in infrastructure investment and 800,000 jobs form part of the government’s economic recovery plan, unveiled by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday.
“In our view, the President has once again failed us because he is saying absolutely nothing new”, Vavi said.
The plan, for the most part, focuses on job creation, infrastructure, energy and driving industrial growth.
Ramaphosa also extended the COVID-19 social relief grant by three more months.
The recovery plan is the result of extensive deliberation between the government and its social partners, including business and labour.
