The much-anticipated SA20 league is all set to begin from January and Mumbai Indians Head Coach Mark Boucher is looking forward to cheering his home country’s MI Global franchise – MI Cape Town.
The former South African wicketkeeper batter and coach says that The Newlands Cricket Ground will offer an exciting atmosphere for the players.
“It’s a great stadium to play cricket in, it has got a special feel to it. Newlands Cricket Ground has been my favourite ground for a long period of time, and I really enjoy playing cricket there and enjoyed coaching as well. There isn’t a better place to play cricket in the world than Newlands”
Boucher also feels that the fans at Newlands are special. He added that the MI Cape Town players will appreciate the crowd at Newlands.
Speaking more on the fans, Mark Boucher shared, “The fans at the Newlands Cricket Ground are always special, it’s quite a supportive crowd as well, when you play well they get behind you and I think that’s going to be the key to MI CT’s success in Cape Town as well. MI CT boys will really appreciate the crowd at Newlands.”
He further added that he is confident of the MI CT players playing a good brand of cricket, which is what MI is known for globally.
MI Cape Town, captained by Rashid Khan, comprises of a local South African core of Kagiso Rabada, Dewald Brevis, Rassie van der Dussen, along with Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone. The SA20 season will begin on January 10th, 2023, with MI Cape Town set to play the opening game at its hometown, The Newlands Cricket Ground.
