A family is in mourning after tests confirmed the body of a woman found buried in a shallow grave in a shack in Vlakfontein, was that of Mathapelo Mbele.
The family wants justice but says it won’t bring her back. Mathapelo’s live-in boyfriend has allegedly confessed to strangling her and burying her under his mattress.
Thokozani Sibeko (28) is now charged with murder and defeating the ends of justice. The Mbele family says it can’t believe Mathapelo died at the hands of someone who was meant to protect her.
I don’t know him. I don’t even know what he looks like and I don’t want to know. I don’t ever want to see him,” said Mathapelo’s uncle, Simon Mantsumbe
Now that DNA tests have confirmed her identity, Mathapelo’s family can take her body back home to the Free State to her final resting place.
