Media personality and rapper Boity Thulo has dismissed the Bible as an epitome of patriarchy. Boity was responding to questions asked on Twitter about religion.
The conversation was started by a Tweep using the handle @_DJMosh who asked his followers, “What ruined religion for you?”
People responded with the incidents that ruined their religious lives. Most of the stories shared under the Tweet are about the conduct of pastors in churches.
Boity shared her thoughts about the Bible, and she described it as the epitome of patriarchy, meaning the Bible largely endorses a system which men hold the power and women are largely excluded from it.
She further went on to question the lack of incidents where women had Holy encounters

Lack of female voices and representation especially in the Bible. Also, the journey didn’t fill up the void in my soul the way I was brought up to believe it would. https://t.co/tlB9182LXF

You telling me that book was a record of years of people’s Holy encounters and they barely got 10 nyana WOMEN to talk about their moments with Jesus? Gurl, bye.

She also says she couldn’t connect with the church.
‘Look man, I’ve gone through the religious journey. Went to church. I read the book. Found little to no form of representation in there. Not race, barely gender, not a name, not much. I was left with more questions than connection. And then I found my way. Each to their own.”
Another Tweep Huncho confronted Boity, “Boitumelo don’t perish because of lack of knowledge and burn in eternal fire educate yourself self. When you die it will be you, Jesus and God. you’ll have to answer your sins. Accept Jesus and have eternal Life. You’ve got nothing to loose Your narrow feminism won’t save you.”
Boity had none of it and hit back, “In that case…VOETSEK!”
Here are some of the comments by Boity’s follower as some agreed with her sayting she had valid points while others had some harsh words for the sangoma.

I see Christians are touched about Boity's sentiments about the bible, I don't understand why because that is her personal opinion and if we being fair she is making a few valid points pic.twitter.com/Il0OlomHB8

The same can be said about alot of other religions and other beliefs systems. The Bible is a document that has historical, political and economic context. It's important to read anything contextually and with understanding. And the lack thereof has lead to oppression.
