Thando Thabethe has Resigned from 5FM

Actress and media personality Thando Thabethe has revealed that she has officially put in her effective resignation with 5FM after being with the station for five years. According to Channel24, Thando Thabethe gave them the exclusive on her decision to leave the station. We had to make a very difficult decision, something we’ve had to ponder over for many, many months. Basically, I’ve tendered my resignation at 5FM. And the idea is to focus on the things that I want to do,” she said told the publication.

Thando continued to say that she hopes that her time on-air has inspired any up and coming presenters. I’ve been doing it for almost 11 years now, and I hope I’ve opened up the path for other young, black women to soar in that field.

The star’s resignation was solidified on Tuesday 3 March, and her final Thabooty show will be on Thursday 5 March. However, ZAlebs did notice that once the news about Thando’s resignation broke DJ Fresh gave a perspective on this departure that, we weren’t prepared for. He left a rather sinister tweet:


With that post, a lot of people had a lot of questions on what really motivated the radio host to leave 5FM. Hopefully, Thando is leaving without a bitter taste in her mouth and that there isn’t much to DJ Fresh’s trap tweet.

We’re excited to see what Thando gets up to in her acting career, seeing as that is what she says is ready to focus more on. Thando says she wants to “invest my time in my acting now. I start shooting Housekeepers season 2 on Friday, and we’re broadening horizons into the world in that sphere.
