Gauteng acting DG Thabo Masebe has died

Acting DG in the Gauteng Premier’s Office Thabo Masebe has died. His family issued a statement on Monday.

Masebe held various high-profile positions in government. In 2010 he joined the Presidency serving as spokesperson for then Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe.

He was also head of communications in the Gauteng Health Department. The provincial government has expressed its condolences describing him as a multi-skilled communicator.

Details surrounding his death are not yet known. His family has asked for privacy during this time.
