MTN denies terror claims

MTN has denied claims the company is supporting terrorism. A US court has been told the network operator and other large corporates made payments to the Taliban in order to protect their businesses in Afghanistan.
MTN has defended itself, highlighting that it conducts its business in a responsible and compliant manner but will be reviewing the report.
The complaint has been filed in the district court of Columbia by American service members, civilians, and families whose loved ones were killed or wounded in Afghanistan between 2009 and 2017.
The complainants allege that the corporations supported the Taliban by making payments to ensure the protection of their infrastructure.
The report also alleged that MTN switches off cellphone towers at night to prevent US forces from tracking members of the Taliban.
