Ramaphosa: No territorial battles between ministers

President Cyril Ramaphosa dispelled media reports of territorial battles between the ministers tasked with managing the energy crisis on Saturday. These are the Public Enterprises, Energy, and Electricity ministers.

Kgosientsho Ramokgopa was appointed Electricity Minister in February to deal with rolling blackouts.

Ramaphosa said, “there is no territorial battle in this matter, when I appointed the minister of electricity I made it clear what the roles of three ministers will be. I made it clear the minister of electricity will focus on ridding our country off load shedding. And therefore he will focus on generation of energy we need so eliminate load shedding… The minister of mineral and DMRE his task is on energy side, the laws that have on regulating energy.”

“Minister of public enterprises will be dealing of Eskom in relation to government, restructuring of Eskom so we deliver precisely what we said we will deliver an Eskom that will become a well governmental organisation able to execute its mandate.”

“There’s no conflict…there’s no conflict…the ministers themselves are surprised that there’s this talk of conflict. They work very well together…there’s no crisis, the government goes on and work is underway”
