Growing concern over high teenage pregnancy rate in Mpumalanga

The Mpumalanga Health Department is concerned about the high rate of pregnancies among its teenagers.

One of the Christmas babies announced was born to a 14-year-old girl.

The Health MEC, Sasekani Manzini, is calling for communities to work together to stop this from happening.

“Of serious concern is that our first child was delivered by a 14-year-old of which its a problem,” she said.

“We call upon all the members of the community to work together with us to make sure that we deal with the numbers that are increasing on a daily basis of teenagers delivering in our different facilities.”
