2. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
2.1 The minimum education requirement is a Matric certificate or equivalent.
2.2 Must have technical ability and good technical background.
2.3 Must have knowledge of aircraft and the Aviation Alphabet.
2.4 Must be able to read and write in English.
2.5 Must be able to communicate clearly and fluently in English.
2.6 Must have a valid Code 10 Drivers License.
2.7 Must have an AVOP.
2.8 Will attend training as and when required to do so.
3. Accountabilities
3.1 Accountable for the effective and timeous towing, parking and wing walking of aircraft and any other tasks, as delegated by the crew chief.
3.2 The employee shall be accountable for ensuring operations are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations and standards of the Operator and within the confines of the AOC and relevant operational specifications.
3.3 Responsible for the OHS in their area of responsibility and accountability reporting into this role.
3.4 Accountable for the management of safety risks and security threats to aircraft operations.
4. Responsibilities
4.1 Positioning of aircraft in the parking bay to ensure on-time departure and removal of aircraft from the parking bay after the day’s completed flight schedule.
4.2 Repositioning of aircraft as requested.
4.3 Manning aircraft brakes during towing operations, including operation of aircraft Auxiliary Power Units.
4.4 Pre shift inspection of equipment, identifying and reporting of defective equipment.
4.5 Assisting maintenance engineers with aircraft maintenance activities which include the jacking of aircraft, removal and installation of panels, seats and interiors and various similar tasks.
4.6 Responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with Company Standards as laid out in the manuals of procedure, and Occupational Health and Safety standards.
4.7 Will assist with any additional tasks within the contexts of the job description.
