Company based in Sandton has a vacancy available for a Technical Analyst with at least 5 years relevant work experience in the Banking or Financial industry. The ideal candidate needs to have worked in a technical support role for a data intensive application/environment; have a minimum of 3 years of SQL experience and also some experience on Web Servers.
Description of the role:
The candidate will be responsible for fulfilling a role of a Technical Analyst within the Finance IT environment. The role will involve project and business as usual deliverables and providing application support to three regions in the Capital Management space.
Responsibilities:
Understand and own the technical layer of the application and associated components including disaster recovery
Identify and define application problems by troubleshooting and performing the right root cause analysis
Write and maintain general system documentation and functional/technical documents
Participate and drive technical design sessions with IT architects
Design and manage the implementation of automated batch schedules (in Control-M) with the respective team
Build and test SQL scripts that are required
Work with the software vendor on system specific issues and the resolutions of it
Participate in the full SDLC process and responsible for managing the entire delivery
Involved in general day-to-day production application support and operational requests from business Create documents, presentations, and training material
Implement and maintain IT monitoring of the Application services
Ensure IT Policies are adhered to
Manage stakeholder expectations and priorities effectively
Candidate Requirements
Education, Skills and specialist knowledge required:
Information Technology or BSC IT degree
5 + years working experience as a technical analyst in the Banking or Financial industry
Skills set:
Basic understanding of .Net\Java\Python
Experience on Tomcat \ Web sphere
Ability to write SQL queries and understand procedures and functions
Worked in an operational team in a support role but also worked on small, medium and large initiatives
Experience in resolution of application specific technical problems
Experience in performance trouble shooting
Ability to multi-task, prioritise and deliver to milestones
