One dead, multiple injured in taxi rollover

KwaZulu-Natal: At 15H03 Saturday afternoon Netcare 911  Helicopter Emergency Medical Services received a call for assistance from Life Response 24 for a collision on the N2 Northbound near Westwood Mall in Sherwood Durban.

Reports from the scene indicate that the driver of a fully Laiden mini-bus taxi had lost control resulting in the vehicle leaving the road crashing through the safety barrier and rolling approximately forty meters down an embankment.

Fifteen patients were found to have sustained minor to moderate injuries.

A thirty-three-year-old female occupant was found to have sustained serious injuries and was treated on scene before being airlifted by Netcare 911 Helicopter to hospital for further treatment.

A twenty-six-year-old female was also assessed on the scene however she showed no signs of life and was sadly declared deceased on the scene.

Circumstances leading up to the collision will be investigated by the SAPS who were on the scene.
