Free State Education MEC Tate Makgoe to be laid to rest

Free State Education MEC, Tate Makgoe will be laid to rest today in an official provincial funeral category one in Bloemfontein.

Makgoe and his protector, Warrant Officer Vuyo Ralikontsane, died in a car crash after his vehicle hit a cow near Winburg.

He led a provincial education department that achieved the best matric results in the country for the past four years.

The Umkhonto weSizwe veteran was born in Tumahole in Parys.

He is one of the longest-serving MECs in the province.
