Systems in place to produce 31m COVID-19 vaccine in SA: Aspen

Covid-19 cases continue to decline

Aspen says systems are in place for the production of 31-million Covid-19 vaccine jabs at its plant in the Eastern Cape.

The deal, in partnership with Johnson and Johnson, got a further boost when the South African Health Products Regulation Authority gave it a conditional registration.

Aspen CEO Stephen Saad has paid tribute to scientists who are at the forefront of vaccine development. Let’s give tribute to our scientists who are critical and they really need support and they really need more financing and we really need to building that skill set,” he said.

He has also addressed fears that the vaccine may be sold to richer countries, leaving very little to South Africans.
