The 16-year-old teenager was last seen by witnesses who say he had been severely beaten at a popular tavern after being accused of stealing alcohol. Community leader Fata Shandu says that the community is opposed to bail.

“The entire community of Tongaat, the surroundings, in fact the entire country is angry about what happened.
“The community is furious and is not prepared to see them outside. They are here to say no to bail because this was an act of cannibalism that is why people are saying it is no longer time for such people out,” said Shandu.
