Parliament calls on NSFAS to get its house in order amid ongoing student protests

NSFAS must get its house in order.

That’s the stern warning from Parliament’s Higher Education Committee.

It comes amid ongoing student protests.

The Cape Peninsula University of Technology has been shut down after vehicles and buildings were torched.

The University of the Western Cape has moved classes online due to safety concerns.

Students at TVET colleges in Durban have been protesting for over two weeks.

”We’re five months into the year, but most importantly, a few weeks into the exam,” said Tebogo Letsie.

“Some students have not received allowances for food, and we expect them to write exams now.

“They’re not okay psychologically, it’s students who are suffering.”
