NSFAS to respond to student demands

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will on Friday respond to demands by students at 14 universities.
On Wednesday, student leaders marched to the scheme’s offices to hand over their demands, which they wanted addressed immediately.
They want NSFAS to increase budget allocations for allowances and accommodation and to do away with a third-party service provider for the payment of students’ living and personal care allowances.
They’re also rejecting the defunding of accommodation and travelling allowances for students with fewer than 60 credits.
The scheme promised to respond in 48 hours.
Student leaders say they will meet and decide on a plan of action after receiving feedback from NSFAS.
