A Father and son were happily having drinks together in the backroom but soon after…blood flowed. The murder weapon, an axe, also lay not far from the murder scene on Tuesday.
The 63-year-old Madala has appeared before Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court after being accused of killing his 35-year-old son in Ga-Ledwaba village.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the police were called to a house in Ga-Ledwaba village outside Lebowakgomo at about 06h00 and on arrival, they found the body of the deceased lying in the yard between the family house and the back rooms.
He said preliminary investigations led the police to a possible murder weapon; a blood stained axe which was found a few meters from the body.
Further investigations led to the arrest of the deceased’s father.
The father and his son were apparently drinking liquor together in the back room.
The deceased’s body was discovered by his mother, who then notified the cops.
The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has condemned this incident and has urged the investigators to dig deep to unearth all the circumstances leading up to this brutal murder.
The deceased who was staying with his parents in the same premises and has been identified as Madimetja John Ledwaba.
The motive for this incident is unknown at this stage as police investigations are still unfolding but the abuse of alcohol cannot be ruled out.
