Letter found at house where two Strand women died

The bodies of two women were found in a house in Strand at 7 pm yesterday.

The bodies of a 25-year-old and a 42-year-old woman were found in the Marais Street home after family members informed police that they could not get hold of the women.

Police gained access to the house after the landlord unlocked it for them. They also reportedly found a letter on the scene.

The police suspect no foul play at this stage.

“Circumstances surrounding the death of two women, aged 25 and 43, whose bodies was found at premises in Marais Street, Strand, on Sunday are under investigation.

“An inquest case was registered for investigation. A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” said Western Cape police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk.

Journalist Julius Jansen posted on Facebook: “There was a suicide note that stated that the two ladies had a fight and the one threatened to leave and went out.

“When she returned she found her flatmate hanging in the bathroom. She took her down and put her on the bed.

“The 2nd lady apparently hanged herself. Witness alleges the women were constantly in verbal fights.”
