Suspects bust with a stolen gun

Two suspects, aged 20 and 22, were arrested on Wednesday, 3 May, for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said cops received a tip-off about two suspects owning an unlicensed firearm at a hair salon in Bela Bela, Limpopo.

Ledwaba said cops immediately followed up on the tip-off and searched the premises.

In the process, they found a firearm, a magazine, and ammunition hidden behind the wardrobe in the bedroom of the suspects.

“The female suspect claimed the firearm belonged to her deceased father. However, investigation by police revealed that the fire had been reported stolen in October 2021 in Woonderboom SAPS in Gauteng. Both suspects were arrested,” Ledwaba said.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, Major-General Jan Scheepers, praised the cops for the arrest and the quick response to the information that led to the removal of the firearm from the hands of criminals.
