Theuns du Toit expelled from Stellenbosch University

Theuns du Toit, the Stellenbosch University student that urinated on a black student’s belongings, has been expelled.

Du Toit made headlines after a video of him urinating on Babalo Ndwayana’s belongings in the Huis Marais residence went viral.

Following a disciplinary hearing, the university’s Central Disciplinary Committee says that

Du Toit contravened four clauses of the disciplinary code, as well as residence rules.

It says it had no alternative but expulsion.

Du Toit has five working days to appeal the decision.

The university will also appoint Justice Sisi Khampepe to lead an independent inquiry into alleged racism at the institution.

Ndwayana has also laid criminal charges against Du Toit.
