Retired Justice Sisi Khampepe to investigate racism allegations at Stellenbosch University

Recently retired Constitutional Court Justice Sisi Khampepe has been chosen to lead the probe into racism allegations at Stellenbosch University.

The university was in the spotlight last month after video footage of a white student urinating on the belongings of a black student went viral on social media.

The independent commission of inquiry is also probing racism allegations stemming from the Law Faculty’s annual dance.

The University says the commission will aid in the university’s fight against racism.

Proceedings will be held behind closed doors and the inquiry will begin its work in the middle of June.

Khampepe has also just been appointed as Chancellor at the University of Pretoria.
