OUTA’s legal team has been informed that the government has decided to withdraw the State of Disaster on electricity and revoke its regulations.
This follows OUTA’s legal challenge to stop the State of Disaster.
The State Attorney has informed OUTA that the withdrawal takes effect from Thursday.
President Cyril Ramaphosa declared the State of Disaster during his SONA address.
The government said in a statement that the State of Disaster has been terminated with immediate effect.
It said the State of Disaster enabled the government to enhance interventions by the National Energy Crisis Committee in terms of the Energy Action Plan.
