Stage 6 power cuts to be implemented from 4pm

Delays in returning ten generating units to service at several power stations have forced Eskom to escalate blackouts to stage 6 from 4pm.

Stage six power cuts will remain in place until 5am on Tuesday. The power utility will then shift to stage 4 until 4pm.

Eskom says this pattern will be repeated until it is able to regain some degree of stability. Breakdowns have reduced generating capacity by about 751 megawatts.
