Spurs promoted to DStv Premiership

Cape Town Spurs are back in big-time football. The Cape side headed to the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands needing a draw but played like a team that needed maximum points, especially in the early exchanges.

They created better chances with Therlo Moosa failing to guide his header past Renaldo Leaner in the Maritzburg United goals. After the interval, the home team applied more pressure without threatening Lincoln Vyver. Both Bradley Cross and Amadou Soukouna failed to hit the target with the latter missing the final opportunity.

Shaun Bartlett and his charges were ecstatic at full-time with the goalless draw securing promotion for Spurs. Spurs ended the PSL Promotional Play-Offs top of the standings with 10 points, three ahead of the Team of Choice. This is the second time the former Bafana Bafana marksman promotes a side to the top tier after his heroics with Golden Arrows eight years ago.
