Eligible voters cast special votes

The casting of special votes got underway in South Africa on Saturday.

This is a litmus test for the IEC, which says it’s ready for the local government elections on Monday.

Voting will be taking place amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the fear of a resurgence of infections remains real.
