South Africans caught up in Egpyt bomb blast to return home

Some South African tourists, caught up in a bombing in Egypt on Sunday are on their way back home.

Three others remain in hospital and will be back in South Africa later this week.

The blast occurred near Egypt’s Giza pyramids, as a bus carrying 25 South African tourists was passing.

It is unknown who is behind the attack.

South Africa’s Ambassador Vusi Mavimbela and his team in Egypt are engaging with the authorities, including visiting hospitals to verify the information.

“We are still trying to piece the details because we are talking to the authorities here who have not yet received the full report of what exactly happened,” Mavimbela said.
