Latest on Somizi’s job at Idols SA after Mohale abuse claims – Mzansi Magic speaks
Mzansi Magic has given an update on Somizi Mhlongo’s future after it put him on ice last week. The popular channel has revealed it doesn’t have a contingency plan yet.
“Mzansi Magic has received numerous media queries on a contingency plan post the pre-recorded Idols SA season 17 round. We will communicate any developments in due course,” the channel said.
This comes after the channel last week revealed it, together with the media personality, came to a mutual agreement that he should take some time off.
“M-Net and Mr Somizi Mhlongo met to discuss his role on Idols SA in light of the allegations against him and we have reached a mutual agreement Mr Mhlongo will take some time off to deal with his personal circumstances until this matter has been resolved,” a statement revealed.
All of this came after the explosive details that he was allegedly abusive towards his estranged husband Mohale Motaung.
But Somizi has poured cold water on the claims, saying their relationship has had its ups and downs.
“But I have never been physically or knowingly emotionally abusive towards my estranged husband. I vehemently deny the allegations of criminal acts towards him and would like to clear my name of that defamation.”
Several audio recordings have been doing the rounds on social media, where Mohale can be heard making jaw-dropping revelations about the circumstances surrounding his rocky marriage with Somizi.
Mohale has said the recording were leaked without his knowledge. He said it was never his intention for the details of his marriage to be public knowledge as he wanted the divorce settlement between him and Somizi to be as peaceful as possible.
“I did, in fact, experience abuse at the hands of my estranged husband, both physical and psychological. It is not my wish to seesaw my experience against his as he only has his conscience to reckon with,” read part of his statement.
