EVIL man forces 2 kids smoke dagga before raping them

Residents of Makwane Village in Phuthaditjhaba, Free State, are shocked by the rape of two children, aged five and eight.

The suspect allegedly forced them to smoke dagga before raping them on 5 May. Although he denied this when confronted by parents, he was later arrested after the incident was reported to the police.

He appeared in the Makwane Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 11 May, facing two charges of rape and attempted murder.

The incident left residents shocked, with Puseletso Mokoena and Siphesihle Nkabende saying they were worried about their children’s safety.

“It seems like rape is another pandemic. We call for serious intervention from relevant stakeholders,” they said.

Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said the victims were taken for examination, which determined they had been raped.

“It is alleged that the suspect forced the minors to smoke dagga before raping them,” said Mophiring.

Provincial commissioner, Lieutenant-General Baile Motswenyane said: “This is a sickening ordeal any parent or child can go through. I hope justice prevails.”

The suspect is expected back in court on Tuesday, 17 May.
