‘Smoke and Mirrors’ viewers not happy with Hlomla Dandala

Well-known legendary South African actor Hlomla Dandala has not impressed e.tv Smoke and Mirrors viewers as Caesar.

The River actor Hlomla Dandala, who has taken over Zolisa Xaluva’s role in Smoke and Mirrors as Caesar breaks his silence.

Dandala tells IOL that this is an exciting challenge for him as the character of Caesar is loved by viewers. His aim is to please and ensure that he delivers as a performer.

“Playing a villainous character such as Caesar will surely bring the best out of me. But more than anything I’m excited to be back with the eFamily and I look forward to a real joyride as we enter the second season of the show.”

Viewers of the show recently took to X to criticize Dandala’s performance and requested for Xaluva’s return.

A fan of the show @Reel_TalkZA says: “I am just going to say it, there is no chemistry between Hlomla Dandala and Ayanda Bandla. This is a disaster; Lala must come fetch her man and they must do #TheRiver again. Bring Zolisa back, I hate it here.”

Dandala’s character, Caesar married Thandisa (played by talented actress Ayanda Bandla) at the end of season one.

Actor Zolisa Xaluva who played the first Caesar has secured a role Mzansi Magic’s crime drama series, Code 13 as detective Bheki Ndlovu.

E.tv welcomes actor Hlomla Dandala for the recast role of Caesar Ngonyama in season two of the hit telenovela Smoke and Mirrors.

Dandala made an appearance from the 16 April at 9pm at Caesar and Thandiswa’s wedding day.

E.tv executive producer Dithapelo Segodi tells IOL: “Selecting Hlomla as our new Caesar was no-brainer, it just makes sense.”

“As a broadcaster we are happy to have him back on the channel and we hope our viewers are just as excited as we are”.

Xaluva is the second actor to leave the e.tv telenovela in the second season after Kabomo Vilakazi, who played Mthetho.
