Big Boy had stolen many hearts of Skeem Saam viewers with his remarkable acting skills, and he was a well-respected actor in the industry who still had a lot to offer.

Besides being seen as an alcoholic and terrible father, Charles Maja was actually a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Here are a few facts we’ve come to learn about Charles:

Charles was 54-years-old and was a grandfather of two of his grandkids.

In an interview with Drum magazine, he revealed that he designs his own clothes and that he actually thought that he would be a fully-fledged fashion designer. He only buys shoes and a few other items of clothing but the rest of his clothes he makes for himself and his family.

He’s been married to his wife of 30-years.

Besides being on television, Charles has had extensive roles in radio dramas at Thobela FM.

Charles and his on-screen son Thabo Mkhabela actually had a very good relationship off-screen. The actors are known to get along like a house on fire and look to each other for advice and any opinion that could improve their craft as actors.
