Singer Busiswa on music break & how motherhood changed her

Well-known South African musician, Busiswa Gqulu reflected on how her life changed since she became a mother.
The singer and poet, who is gearing up to release new music, recently sat down with Popcast hosts Ms Cosmo and Sipho to speak on motherhood.
Busiswa said though she was enjoying it right now and at her happiest, she admitted to not being in a good place after giving birth.
“I went through a lot since Kgosi came onto this earth. I know a lot of people have been saying that I’m quiet… I haven’t been feeling like making happy music. I have been making music and thank God that I can do that all the time,” she said.
“But now I’m happier, I’m thinner, I’m sexier. When my son was born, I was at my heaviest, and I wasn’t happy, I was performing because my songs were popping. The only thing that kept me going was because…my baby boy. Being a mom has just elevated me … I want to be fit for myself.”
For a long time, Busiswa chose to keep her son’s identity off social media, but now she shares some precious moments with her followers.
When her son decided to take up karate lessons, the proud mother shared images of him in his uniform expressing her glee.
“My guy asked to join karate classes guys. This is a visual of his energy through the first day of training. He started so hyped. Motherhood is fun. We thank God for happy kids who can choose who they want to become,” she wrote.
