Reinforcements brought in to battle Simon’s Town fire

Strong winds overnight are fanning flames in Simon’s Town and spreading the wildfire to new areas.

This has forced fire and rescue services to call in all off-duty staff to attend to incidents.

It’s also asking for help from neighbouring municipalities.

Emergency services are confident the blaze will be contained soon.

“The fire has now jumped the mountain. The Simon’s Town side of the mountain is clear, it’s the other side that’s of concern,” said Jermaine Carelse from the Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services.
