State’s 4th witness in Sifiso Mkhwanazi trial details brush with death

The state in the trial of alleged serial killer Sifiso Mkhwanazi has brought out its fourth witness, who is also a sex worker.

Mkhwanazi is accused of smothering five women to death and shooting a sixth with his father’s pistol between April and October of 2022.

Under the pseudonym Miss A, the s.e.x worker told the court how her colleague and one of the six victims, Joyous Moyo, were picked up by a van which was later found along with Moyo’s decomposing body on Mkhwanazi’s father’s business property.

Evidence against Mkhwanazi continues to pile up as the state’s relentless efforts to keep him behind bars grow stronger with each witness brought forward.

Monday’s evidence presented by Miss A highlighted her close brush with death after she explained how she initially approached the van that picked up Moyo.

Miss A, who requested that the court protect her identity and voice, explained how on 2 October 2022, Moyo got into the van with an unidentified man and disappeared – until her body was discovered a week later with Mkhwanazi’s five other victims.

The state concluded its evidence in chief a short while ago, with the defence expected to cross-examine Miss A on Tuesday.
