Former student Sibongile Mani pleads for leniency

Former student Sibongile Mani who was found guilty of stealing NSFAS money is fighting for her freedom.

She wants the court to suspend her sentence or place her under correctional supervision.

The Walter Sisulu University student was sentenced to five years in prison in March.

She was mistakenly paid R14-million instead of the R1 4000 due to her.

Mani spent around R800 000 of this money.
