
Shoprite is offering a R50,000 reward for information after one of its liquor stores was robbed in Johannesburg. The thieves made off with alcohol worth R300,000.
They tunnelled through a solid concrete floor to gain access to the store in Newtown Junction. A store manager discovered the theft, and a large hole in the ground, when she entered the store on Friday. Shoprite says the suspects returned a few times to steal a large amount of stock.

This includes whiskey, brandy, gin, cider, vodka and beer. The suspects used electrical and stormwater tunnels beneath the shopping centre to gain access. The retailer says the footage shows three culprits, who were first recorded on CCTV cameras two weeks ago, were involved.
