Eight dead, four seriously injured in shoot-out with police

Gauteng: At 06H52 Thursday morning, Netcare 911 responded to a shooting on Mothibedi Street in Sebokeng, Sedibeng.

Reports indicate that a shooting had broken out between the SAPS and a gang of heavily armed suspects, believed to be involved in a string of cash-in-transit robberies.

On arrival, medics found a large police presence.

Medics assessed the patients and found that eight adult male suspects had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.

Three suspect adult males who were also shot had sustained critical injuries.

The last adult male suspect had sustained moderate injuries after being shot.

Fortunately, none of the police officers were injured.

Circumstances leading up to the event will be investigated by the relevant authorities who were on the scene.
