Former Skeem Saam actress Shoki Mmola has joined Scandal, as Reverend Prudence Molepo.
According to the channel reverend, Prudence Molepo is a woman of the cloth who has wholly given her life to the faith. She holds herself in high regard and expects others to do the same for themselves. But, she stands on moral high ground to mask her own flaws. The Reverend is a strict mother and can often be too hard on her children. In her eyes, they cannot be failures because they were birthed by a woman who is moulded in the image of God.
The Reverend comes in as Vuvu’s mother, and she holds Nhlamulo and Vuvu’s kids close to her heart. But she does not agree with Vuvu’s s.e.xuality and writes her off completely. She feels Vuvu and Nhlamulo are not fit to raise the children and wants to raise them for herself.
Shoki left Skeem Saam in 2021 after 20 years on the show. The SABC confirmed her exit in a statement.
“Boasting a whopping 26 years of her television career, Mmola has been playing the character of ‘Celia’ on Skeem Saam for 10 years and in that role has been one of show’s lead actresses, contributing to its accomplishments over the past decade. Always keeping fans entertained, Mmola has portrayed the character of ‘Celia’ impeccably,” reads the statement.
The channel said that Shoki would be missed by her fellow cast members, crew members, and viewers watching at home. We wish her well and all the best with her future. The actress also confirmed that she was leaving the show on her social media. She thanked everyone who has supported her in the last 28 years.

eTV recently announced the departure of Nolwazi Shange Ngubeni. After several months of playing the ambitiously manipulative Mbali Kubeka also known as Lady M who left viewers in anguish over her mysterious behavior, the actress left the show this month.

South African singer Tipcee has responded to rumours of being down and out telling a local publication that the rumours are false. Following a report from ZiMoja, Tipcee started trending with sources alleging that she is broke after leaving Tira’s Afrotainment. The dancer said they are nothing but false rumours and that she is still signed to Tira’s label.
