Shepherd Bushiri fears coming back to South Africa

If you thought self-proclaimed “prophet” Shepherd Bushiri has thoughts of ever setting foot in South Africa again, well think again.

Bushiri has no intentions of setting foot in the country this comes as the country witnessed yet another killing of a prophet this past Friday.

A Prophet Dwayne Gordan was shot dead and three church congregants injured when six armed men stormed into a church in Newlands, Johannesburg, on Friday 6 October.

At the time of the incident, the prophet had been standing in the pulpit in front of the congregation and preaching.

The gruesome murder was captured on video and has since been doing the rounds on social media.

This incident left a bitter taste in Bushiri’s mouth who penned down his feelings towards the disturbing incident which made him realise how he had no intentions of coming back to South Africa.

“We have lost almost eight Prophets since I left South Africa due to such pulpit killings. Sad. And someone should still be asking me why I left South Africa? Insane! And someone still wants me to go back there? Keep dreaming!,” the self-acclaimed prophet penned this on Twitter on Saturday, 7 October.

Further in his tweet, Bushiri revealed how he almost lost his life because of these killings.

“The same tricks they used on me on February 7th, 2020 in Sandton as they rampaged my convoy. Luckily, we had intelligence and they did not find me in the cars.

“Surprisingly, they robbed nothing from my people. This happened three months before a gunman stormed our church, charging to the pulpit while I was preaching.

“Thank God our security managed to intercept him. Not once,” he said.

Shaken by what transpired at the church in Newlands, Bushiri said these kinds of attacks on prophets were unacceptable.

“Losing this young Prophet, is something that was not supposed to have happened. We all know the agenda and who is behind this – fellow men of God who are hoarding their members.

“To all Prophets of God there in South Africa, stay safe. Our prayers are with you. A very young and powerful emerging Prophet in South Africa – Prophet Dwayne Gordon. Rest in power!” he said.

The case against Bushiri and his wife Mary continues before the Lilongwe Magistrates Court in Malawi. The next court appearance is set for Tuesday, 10 October.

Efforts by the South African government to bring Bushiri back to Mzansi continue.

This comes after the department received a request on 26 November 2020 from the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) for the extradition of the Bushiris from the Republic of Malawi to Mzansi to stand trial on charges of fraud, theft, money laundering to the tune of R102 million, racketeering, forgery, and rape, among others.

But the Bushiris have since told the court to reject this request.
