Controversial South African musician Shebeshxt‘s video pulling a gun out and pointing it at a fan, during one of his performances, has gone viral.

The Limpopo-born rapper, real name, Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, is seen opening his backpack, reaching for his firearm, and pointing it at a fan in the crowd during a gig. Fortunately, he is quickly stopped by one of his team members.

According to a Sunday World article in October last year, the artist – popularly known as “President ya Ma2000” – appeared in court where his gun-pointing charges were provisionally withdrawn.

Shebeshxt was charged with two counts of discharging a firearm after he allegedly fired shots in the air. The incident reportedly took place at a family home in Ga-Mamaola village, Limpopo, on 10 April.

“[He] discharged a firearm at Mamaolo village on April 10, 2023, as he went to a certain family residence looking for their relative who ran away. The accused discharged his firearm, shooting upwards.

“On the second incident (April 10, 2023) the accused discharged a firearm at another family residence when he went to look for a member of that family, when he was informed that the person he was looking for was not there, he discharged his firearm four times upwards,” National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson in Limpopo, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, said.

Reacting to the ruling on social media, he said: “I was in court. The charges relating to me pointing people with guns have been dropped. I am not sure how that happened but they have been dropped.”

In the same year, Shebeshxt was charged with attempted murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The Twerka hitmaker was accused of stabbing three people in Limpopo, on different occasions.

In the first case, which occurred in 2022, he allegedly stabbed the complainant on his back with a knife in Lebowakgomo. In the second case, also in 2022, he allegedly stabbed the complainant with a knife three times on his lower left arm, back of the neck, and next to his ribs. The rapper allegedly also stabbed another complainant on the head, once, with a knife.
