Service delivery protests intensify in parts of Cape Town

Service delivery protests continued in many townships in the Western Cape on Thursday. At least four police officers and several residents have been injured in clashes this week.
Protesters are demanding adequate sanitation and water. Community members from the informal settlement say they can no longer live under these inhumane conditions.
The City of Cape Town says it can’t fulfil promises to provide housing for everyone in need as it doesn’t have enough funding. Human Settlements MMC Malusi Booi said: “Protests are expected to continue until Friday. And it seems those behind these protests are undeterred by the enormous damage to property unless their demands are met.
