The UDM says it will work with other political parties that might govern at provincial and national levels to depoliticise and achieve service delivery. Its leader, General Bantu Holomisa has launched the party’s election manifesto in the Eastern Cape on Saturday.
Holomisa has told party supporters in Mthatha that UDM municipalities and its councillors will keep their noses clean and will stick to their role of oversight.
He has added that local economies and job creation are key to rural revitalisation and stimulating smaller local economies. Holomisa says creating jobs closer to where people live will curb the massive influx of people to cities.
