Alleged serial killer Sifiso Mkhwanazi has taken the stand at his murder trial in the Johannesburg High Court sitting in Palm Ridge.
The 21-year-old is accused of killing six sex workers and dumping their bodies at his father’s business property in the Joburg CBD.
On Tuesday, Mkhwanazi’s father Mark Khumalo told the court that his son confessed to the murders and rape allegations voluntarily while on record.
However, Mkhwanazi claims he was coerced into a confession by his father.
“He said that he’ll stop looking after me if I don’t tell the truth, financially and psychologically.”
Mkhwanazi added that the investigating officer sergeant Bongani Mbonambi also coerced him into confessing however, Mbonambi rubbished the allegation.
“We were never desperate for a confession, the matter was already in court. We had evidence after evidence so we could have organized a formal confession statement.”
