Senzo Meyiwa trial: Extra day added after defence requests court records from Ntanzi’s ammunition case

Requests by the defence in the Senzo Meyiwa trial will see another day being added to the ongoing trial.

The State concluded its cross-examination of the second accused, Bongani Ntanzi.

He has been testifying against the admissibility of incriminating confession statements that he signed.

Ntanzi and five others stand accused of the footballer’s 2014 murder.

The State has reached the end of its cross-examination of Ntanzi, and ordinarily, it would now be for both parties to prepare for arguments next week.

But now the defence asked for court records of Ntanzi’s appearances at the Tlhabane Magistrates Court for the possession of ammunition case.

This, as the defence argued that Ntanzi was not legally represented by Dominic Mjiyako, who the State insists was on record as his lawyer.

On Wednesday, the court adjourned for the State to source those records for them to be presented in court on Thursday morning.

This may result in Ntanzi being subjected to further questions by the State.
