Senzo Meyiwa trial: State told to source court proceedings transcripts from over 3 years ago

The State in the Senzo Meyiwa trial will need to source transcripts from court proceedings from over three years ago to be presented in court.

This is part of a bid by the defence to prove that Bongani Ntanzi, one of the accused, was not legally represented when he first appeared in the Boksburg Magistrates Court.

On Friday, the court heard a recording from one of his appearances in the magistrates court in 2021, where Ntanzi could be heard saying the man believed to be his lawyer, Dominic Mjiyako, wanted him to plead guilty to murder.

Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng asked the State to source the official written transcripts and present them in court when the case resumes next week.
