SA Mass Movement disappointed by pace of Senzo Meyiwa murder trial
The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has resumed in the High Court in Pretoria.
Five men are in the dock for the murder of the Bafana Bafana captain, who was shot and killed in 2014, at the home of his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo.
Mzuvele Cele of the South African Mass Movement says they’re disappointed, with the slow pace of the trial.
Cele said, “we are here, actually to raise our frustration in connection with the Senzo Meyiwa case.”
“This is really a big disappointment to the justice system of South Africa.”
“When our rights are violated we look to the law and the law must give us justice. We see a case where lots of things happening that has nothing to do with the case, we’re not just talking about anyone, we’re talking about the former captain of Bafana Bafana, the number one sport in SA.”
“This case was supposed to be an example of how the justice system embarrassment to the justice system.”
“If this can happen to the captain of Bafana Bafana, how much more to an ordinary citizen, who is still asking for justice… We give support to our former Bafana Bafana captain at the same time we are raising a serious concern about the failures of our justice system, this must also link with other cases that happen to ordinary people that we know nothing about…raise that awareness…it can’t continue like this.”
