I don’t know who killed Senzo Meyiwa, says witness
A defence lawyer in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial intends to call the slain footballer’s brother-in-law to testify.
Mlungisi Hlophe has said it was not an intruder who killed the Bafana star.
The court previously heard that he’d said in a statement that witness Tumelo Madlala phoned to tell him Meyiwa had been shot as he tried to intervene in a fight between Zandile Khumalo and her then-boyfriend, Longwe Twala.
But the High Court in Pretoria declined to admit Hlophe’s statement.
Despite Madlala insisting he saw the gunman, and that Meyiwa pinned the man against a wall before the firearm went off, he says he doesn’t know who killed his friend.
The trial is adjourned to Thursday.
