Security guards concerned about working conditions

Some security employees are raising concerns about their working conditions. Guards at Fidelity Security claim they are forced to sleep on inflatable mattresses and boxes at the company’s premises. They say their ordeal began when their manager was allegedly arrested for loading 44 security officers into the back of a closed truck.

The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority’s Linda Mbana said as a regulator they have a responsibility to employees and the country to ensure security companies are operating within the confines of the law.

Mbana said PSIRA would be investigating cases of misconduct and is doing their best to provide information about the support security guards can expect from the organisation and what employers should be doing during the lockdown.
