Govt calls on Nelson Mandela Bay residents to save water

The government is calling on Nelson Mandela Bay Metro residents to protect water sources.
The metro has so far managed to stave off Day Zero but it may not be for much longer if resources continue to be polluted.
Director of Communications at Rand Water, Sputnik Ratau said: “Sometimes we do not understand that however much we pollute the water we need, has a couple of ramifications.
“One, it’s a reduction in the capacity of streams themselves, secondly is the impact on river health, that is the quality of water at the source which is very critical…were encouraging communities living close to rivers and streamers to take an interest in that water body.
“As the month of the campaign, but necessarily restricted to July to then go into those water bodies and clear as much pollution as possible”
